The organisers behind the Heavy Music Awards have announced details of its 2018 awards ceremony. It will place in London on Thursday 23 August 2018. In additional news, the “Best Breakthrough Band” category will be split into two awards; UK and international.

Swedish alt-rock newcomers Noija are set to release their debut album, ‘Colourblind’, on October 20th.

London-based alt-rock group Black Surf have launched a countdown to the release of their new single, which is set to be released on October 27th.

Liverpool art-rock trio SPQR have joined Mersyside-based independent label, Loner Noise Records. A new EP called ‘The House That Doubt Built’ is set to be released on 10th November.

Imminence Records has signed Paris, France’s metalcore outfit Out Of My Eyes.

Midwestern melodic punk four-piece Turnspit has signed with Dodgeball Records, which will release the band’s new LP, ‘Desire Paths’ on February 16th, 2018.

Festival News

Several names for the Manchester Punk Festival have been announced. Amongst them is headliners Propagandhi, Mobina Galore, The Bennies, Antillectual, Nervus, Fresh, Darko, Wonk Unit, and Drones. The festival will be held across a number of central Manchester venues (Gorilla, Rebellion, The Bread Shed, Zombie Shack, Underdog, Font & The Thirsty Scholar) between the 19th and 21st April 2018. It is hosted by three DIY promoters; TNSrecords Moving North and Anarchistic Undertones.

Bands announced so far:
Propagandhi, Wonk Unit, The Bennies, Svetlanas, Antillectual, Mobina Galore, Uniforms, Christmas, Spoilers, The Minor Discomfort Band, Pizzatramp, Nervus, Forever Unclean, Fresh, Natterers, Rotten Foxes, All Aboard, Darko, Egos At The Door, Drones, Regret, Wolfbeast Destroyer, Captain Hotknives, Shankland, The Lab Rats, Foxes Faux, Incisions, Aerial Salad and Throwing Stuff.
