Download Festival Preview: The One Hundred

As the road to the Download Festival becomes shorter by the day, we will be speaking to a whole host of acts from this years festival about what to expect from them at Download 2015.

London quartet The One Hundred are no strangers to Already Heard. Having first been featured as part of our “Recommends” series last Janaury, they’ve gone from strength to strength since. Having made their festival debut at Sonisphere, they released their debut EP ‘Subculture’ in September and have since played shows with Hacktivist and Papa Roach. They also played the recent Camden Rocks Festival. Now they’re heading to Download where they will be playing on Jake’s Stage (fourth stage) on the Friday alongside names such as A, Decade and AllUsOnDrugs.

As they set to make their Download debut, we spoke to guitarist Tim Hider about what we can expect from their set and who they’re looking forward to seeing.

AH: Why should fans check you out at Download?
Tim: You should come check us out because although we might be one of the smaller names on the bill, we like to think we bring something a bit different. Plus it’s our first time playing Download so you know it’s going to be big!

AH: What can we expect from your set?
Tim:
Lots of energy! We’ll be playing all the favourites from the EP as well as one or two new tracks! And Jacob (Field – vocals) will probably be wearing leggings…

AH: What other bands are you looking forward to seeing?
Tim: There’s so many great bands we can’t wait to see. We’re all really keen for Slipknot, as well as Stray From The Path, We Are Harlot and Parkway Drive to name a few. We’ve put together a Spotify playlist with a load of the bands we’re looking forward to seeing. Check it out here.

AH: What are your memories of previous Download Festivals?
Tim: We went to Download for the first time last year. We weren’t playing but none of us had ever been before. It was an awesome weekend! Lots of sun, lots of alcohol and lots of great music! Plus getting to see Linkin Park do ‘Hybrid Theory’ in full was a personal highlight!

AH: What advice would you give to people attending Download Festival?
Tim: Don’t forget your tent! It might not be the most comfortable thing in the world, but you’ll appreciate it after a long day of partying! And bring some ear plugs.. Not just for the music, but so you can sleep through the sound of planes flying over the campsite at the crack of dawn!

AH: Do you have anything else you’d like to say?
Tim: Thanks for reading, make sure you come check us out on the Friday at 18.30 on the 4th stage!

The One Hundred will be appearing on Jake’s Stage at 6:50pm on Friday June 12th.

‘Subculture’ EP by The One Hundred is out now.
