Download Festival Preview: Black Stone Cherry

As the road to Download Festival becomes shorter by the day, we will be speaking to a whole host of acts from this years festival about what to expect from them at Download 2015.

Black Stone Cherry are no strangers to Donington Park. 2015 sees the Kentucky hard rockers make their fourth straight appearance, and just like in 2013, they’re headlining the Zippo Encore Stage.

Last year’s ‘Magic Mountain’ LP gave the quartet a UK top ten album and longtime Download fans will know what to expect from Black Stone Cherry; mighty southern hard rock riffs and with a strong classic rock vibe.

As they prepare to grace Download with their presence once again, we caught up with rhythm guitarist Ben Wells.

AH: Why should fans check you out at Download?
Ben
Because we plan on bringing a badass, no frills, completely live rock and roll show. It’s sure to be awesome!

AH: What can we expect from your set?
Ben: A lot of energy, for one! Plus four guys who are incredibly humbled and honoured to be on that stage. It’s gonna rock, yall! Seriously!

AH: What other bands are you looking forward to seeing?
Ben: Clutch will be cool! We know The Cadillac Three Boys too.

AH: What are your memories of previous Download Festivals?
Ben: Rain, sun, rain, and rain. Haha. Seriously, just the energy we feel from the crowd is something you don’t find just anywhere. Download is electric and a little surreal all at the same time!

AH: What advice would you give to people attending Download Festival?
Ben: Pace yourselves but have a badass time.

AH: Do you have anything else you’d like to say?
Ben: Thank you to all of our fans in the wonderful UK! Y’all have taken our band to places we never thought we’d see and we are forever grateful to each of you. Thank you!

Black Stone Cherry will be playing the Zippo Encore stage at 8:25pm on Friday June 12th.
