After temporarily buying the domain of the UK Independence Party, Alcopop! Records will mark the forthcoming UK General Election by releasing a blank 7" called ‘The Wit and Wisdom of Nigel Farage’ on May 4th.

Inspired by Stiff Records’ parody of ‘1980 vs. Ronald Reagan’, the single be completely blank. Whilst its b-side sees the label teaming up with Rou Reynolds (of Shikari Sound System and Enter Shikari) to produce a remix of the single. As you can hear from the stream below, Reynolds “remix” includes the sound of a dripping tap and seagulls; just what Alcopop! thinks what goes on inside UKIP leader Nigel Farage’s head.

Jack Clothier from Alcopop! explains:

“We’ve always thought that Stiff Records Reagan 7” was about the best thing that’s ever happened, and it felt like it was the right time to take a leaf out of their book. We’re not a massively political label, and we’re not trying to tell people who to vote for. We’re just genuinely terrified at what could happen to this country if people listen to the slick, media savvy cult of Farage rather than actually looking at his policies… So anything we can do in our small way to make people question his political motives is something we’re delighted to be involved in.”

Once again Alcopop! Records have produced a unique release with a purpose. A genius move to highlight the idoicy of Nigel Farage.

A proportion of the profits of sales will go to The Migrants Rights Network.
