Album Review: Morain – Are We Lost

When a band releases a debut album or EP the band has to be able to impress listeners and also keep them listening at the same time as well. Morain’s debut EP definitely does impress with a mixture of soaring lead guitar melodies and deep bass lines mixed with some memorable lyrics it’s a good first EP.

Opening title track ‘Are We Lost’ starts off slow and slowly builds up as the drums come in it bursts into a flurry of melodic guitar tones. Lead vocalist Wil Frost’s lyrics are sincere as he sings “and we say hey we need your love, we love the way you move” they standout and are a memorable part of the EP.

The song ‘Animals’ starts off with a mixture of lead guitar parts and some prominent bouncing bass lines. The song has a great summer feel to it with the infectious lead guitar parts going back and forth with the bass lines it is one of the EP’s stand out tracks.

‘The World We Live In’ has a happy feeling to it with the upbeat lyrics running throughout the song it is a good positive happy go lucky song. Last track on the EP ‘Between The Lines’ starts off with a strong bass line and guitar tone it is a song that will definitely go down really well and sound great in a live setting.

Overall ‘Are We Lost’ is a good little EP and showcases the musicianship of the band and gives the listener a feel into what the band are about. With only the rockier side being covered on the EP I’m interested in hearing their acoustic softer side as well. But with a future possible full album release and some tours under their belt the band will have everything they need to go alot further and become alot bigger.

3/5
