Album Review: Bleed Electric – This Is My Masterpiece

The name Bleed Electric is enough to make me shudder, to be quite honest. The brain (dead) child of Chris Maguire or Mug5, the project was formed in 2008 with the addition of Silk and Siege. Mug5 spent two years putting “beats” together every time something highly emotional happened to him.

And this album, ‘This Is My Masterpiece’ doesn’t deserve anyones time of day at all. It’s a cheap and tacky sounding album, using headache-inducing beats that get so boring and tiresome after about half a minute. It makes me want to smack my head continuously against a brick wall; it makes me grind my teeth. Vocals are auto-tuned horrendously, making it sound like someone has no balls. And what I assume is meant to be rapping (who knows?) is thrown on top, with no real thought.

I can’t even bring myself to write about each track individually. Track one sounds exactly like the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth track. They’re all annoying, whiny and repetitive – and not worth writing about. They sound like carbon copies of each other; how can someone distinguish which track is which when they all sound the same?

It’s with a sigh of relief when the mini-album finishes, easing my bleeding ears. And my verdict is that this is no masterpiece; my ears are ringing something terrible by the time the album is over. So here’s my advice – kids, save your money and don’t bother with this album; use it to buy good music.
